Chances are, youâve already binge-watched seasons 1-3, dissected the trailer for references and clues, and taught yourself how to make mulled wine and mead for the Game of Thrones Season 4 premiere on April 6th. No? Just me? If youâre asking yourself what else you can do to prepare, never fear. Winter is coming⦠to (potentially) a city near you.
Hot off the wild popularity of its first traveling exhibition in 2013, HBO is extending its Game of Thrones showcase to several more cities across the globe. Game of Thrones: The Exhibition is exactly what it sounds like: an immersive, interactive exhibit featuring props, weapons and costumes from the actual show. Thatâs right, the world of Westeros will be available for public consumption â and itâs 100% free.
If youâve ever taken a closer look at the props, costumes, and weapons on Game of Thrones, you know the attention to detail is staggering. The new HBO exhibition not only features a massive display of cloaks, dresses, and armor, but also collections of handcrafted crossbows, spears, and swords, crowns and headdresses, and authentic letters, books, and maps.
Not enticing enough for you? You know nothing, Jon Snow. You also get a chance to peruse individual House banners and episode storyboards, and even take a look at some model dragons. Yes, dragons.
Thereâll be tons of other fun Game of Thrones stuff to geek out over, as well as a chance to snap a picture or two on the Iron Throne itself! Watch your back, though; you never know whoâll be coming after your crown next. Take a quick sneak peak of Game of Thrones: The Exhibit in this snazzy video:
The exhibition will travel to Mexico City; Austin, Texas (for SXSW); Rio de Janeiro; Oslo; Toronto; Belfast; Vancouver, BC; and as a part of Time Warner Cable Studios in New York. For more information about Game of Thrones: The Exhibition, check out HBO Connect’s official website.
What say you, Westerosians? Is the exhibit coming to your city? Do you have any delicious Game of Thrones recipes to share? Count down the days âtil Season 4 with me on Twitter @RachelHeine.
As always, living in Florida means I get to see no cool stuff. Truthfully I don’t blame the rest of the world for ignoring this place like the plague.
@Sambolina I’m pretty sure GRRM isn’t putting this exhibit together and traveling around the world himself, so cool your jets.
No dates in San Francisco makes me a sad panda. Awesome first article!
