Explore The World of THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST from Your Computer

In a franchise chock-full of instant classics, A Link to The Past is still heralded as one of the best The Legend of Zelda games ever made. There is no doubt that part of the magic stemmed from the game’s vibrant setting. For those looking to take a stroll down nostalgia lane– the good folks over at Jadsdsengine have recreated a living, breathing HTML 5 version of the over-world, and it’s viewable on your computer and mobile devices. Not only is it a spot on replication of the world, but it also includes every NPC and enemy in its rightful place, just doing their thing. The web page allows you to explore as much as you please by zooming in and out without having to worry about any ball and chain troopers getting in your way.

It is no wonder the adventure felt so grand on the SNES. The map is still impressively large, even with today’s standards for size. Nintendo must have felt the same way, since the same map layout was used almost verbatim in its spiritual sequel, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, with no recourse from fans. Who can blame them, that game is fantastic as well. As the phrase goes: don’t fix what isn’t broken.

This obviously won’t fill the Goran-sized whole left by the absence of the newest Zelda title this year, but it at least reminds us of simpler times. Make sure to check out the whole map on Jadsdsengine to enjoy a stroll down memory lane. Let us know what fond memories this recent visit to Hyrule may have sparked.
