Experience Earth’s Sublime Beauty in Crystal-Clear 4K Video

For any of us who didn’t apply to be a NASA astronaut during the recent application window, we’re stuck here on Earth’s surface for the foreseeable future. Or at least until Elon Musk gets those reusable rockets going consistently and starts a spaceline that travels to the thermosphere. For now, we have this stunning 4K video, which showcases Earth’s beauty in breathtakingly crisp and bright detail.

Like the ultra-high-definition video NASA recently released of the Aurora Borealis, this video showcases the brilliance of combining ultra-high-definition video recording, and the unbearably glorious view from the ISS. In the video above, we mostly see Earth bathed in light from the Sun, but toward the end of the clip the ISS moves into night, revealing a noticeable web of artificially lit human civilization.

If you enjoy this kind of eye candy, you’ll be happy to know that NASA plans on releasing these kinds of ultra-HD videos every few weeks going forward, using one of their onboard cameras, the RED Epic Dragon. The UHD videos will also cover experiments and activities inside the ISS, as showcased by the below video of “unique fluid behavior in space”:

If you want to learn more about NASA’s effort to capture video from the ISS in UHD, you can check out more of the related details here. Or you can just sit back, relax, and watch as the world spins beneath you.

And you know what else should come in super clear detail besides this video? Your thoughts on this UHD footage, which you can post in the comments below!
