Have you been reading Vertigo’s excellent new six-issue mini-series, The Royals: Masters of War? If not, then I’m a little concerned, because the book’s central conceit of “Saving Private Ryan-meets-Downton Abbey” seems like it would be right up your alley. In any event, the inexorable tides of war are finally beating upon American shores, as the Royals’ visit to the United States lead to the horrific realization that the Japanese empire was unleashing superpowered Royals of their own on Pearl Harbor. Issue #3, written by Rob Williams and illustrated by Simon Coleby, immediately thrusts us into the fray with Henry and Arthur playing the heroes in the throes of the Battle of Midway. Yet, there may be a power not even our heroes can defeat lurking in the Pacific…
