After original Rec star Manuela Velasco and original director Jaume Balagueró were absent from Rec 3: Genisis, both have returned for Rec 4: Apocalypse, which the trailer promises to be the “final chapter” in the popular Rec franchise. Now, in anticipation for the January 2, 2015 release, Nerdist has six exclusive images from the film before it is released by Magnet in select theaters and on VOD.
Rec 4: Apocalypse continues the saga of Angela Vidal (Velasco), the young television reporter who entered a disease-ridden building filled with infected tenants and managed to make it out alive. As she wakes up in a high-security quarantine facility, Vidal is the sole survivor and witness to the horrific events that we saw unfold in the first and second Rec films. But does she remember what happened to her? Is she carrying the virus?
Angela is to be taken to a provisional quarantine facility, a high-security installation where she will have to stay in isolation for several days. It will take on new and even more deadly forms, setting the scene for horrors we could only have imagined, before finally revealing its true nature. The apocalypse has just begun⦠And what do you know! It’s on a boat. Super creepy. Rec is, of course, the Spanish language film that Quarantine, starring Jennifer Carpenter, was based. Both are extremely good, in my humble horror opinion.
