EXCLUSIVE: Play BORDERLANDS: THE PRE-SEQUEL Laser Tag with 2K, Gearbox, and Nerdist at SDCC!

Awwwww yeah, suckerbutts! Hold on to your Butt Stallions because we have some incredible news for all of you making your way down to San Diego for this year’s Comic-Con. While the Comic-Con hype train is going so fast that not even Denzel Washington could stop it, we wanted to pump the brakes for just a moment to tell you about something very special we’re doing for you this year at Comic-Con: LASER TAG. Not just any laser tag though — Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel-themed laser tag. Because, you know, what better way to celebrate the new pew-pew lasers in The Pre-Sequel than to shoot some lasers ourselves? We’ll hold on a moment to let you pick up your jaw from the floor.

We’re teaming up with the folks at 2K and Gearbox to take over the top floor of San Diego’s PetCo Park (right across the street from the convention center) to bring you one hell of a Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel-themed Laserpalooza. While we can’t take you to Pandora’s moon for insurance reasons, we will be able to put you on a custom course designed to put you right in the thick of it like the aspiring Vault Hunter that you are. Everyone knows one of the best parts of Borderlands is the co-op gameplay, so you and up to 49 friends will be able to try and melt each other’s faces off, laser style, all week long. Two teams enter — 25 vs. 25 — and ten minutes later, one team will emerge victorious. The other team will emerge slightly less victorious, but considering we’re running 3 games per hour from 11AM to 5PM daily, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to plot your laser-filled revenge. The best part? Anyone is welcome to come and hang out, but those of you with a SDCC badge will get priority access.

But that’s not all, my little Skag slayers! Not only will we have special matches for Borderlands cosplayers (so finish up your fully-functional Claptrap costume now), but we’ll also have a moon-ready oxygen bar, a stage with live performances, interviews, tapings of Nerdist News with Jessica Chobot, and flash mobs roving the streets to bust out their best Moon Dance, but you can also fire lasers at fan favorites like Chris Hardwick and other very special guests (like Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox). Honestly, if you aren’t excited by all of this, you’re probably a Psycho, and we all know what happens to Psychos in the Borderlands universe…

We’ll have even more info in the weeks to come, but go ahead and start practicing your aim now because you’re gonna need it. Be sure to keep your reticules targeted on Nerdist.com because tomorrow we’ll be unveiling our full panel schedule and even more SDCC goodies.

In the meantime, leave us your best laser tag protip in the comments below and let us know if you’ll be joining us on Twitter by using the hashtag #NerdistSDCC!

Can we prebook a group for this? Or do we have to just show up and hope?

Protip?  Your opponents typically aren’t out after one shot, be sure to track as many opposing players movement to position yourself and your team to only fight on one front.
