Exclusive: Listen to an Excerpt from STAR WARS: TARKIN Featuring Voice Actor Stephen Stanton

Are you ready to learn more about Wilhuff Tarkin? We saw the ambitious man in Star Wars: The Clone Wars before the Empire took over and in his Grand Moff role in Episode IV: A New Hope. He was responsible for the destruction of Alderaan and for a certain foul stench. I’ve always been curious to learn more about the man simply because of the fact that Darth Vader listened to him. Some of his story unfolds in the brand new book Star Wars: Tarkin by James Luceno.

Tarkin takes place five years after the Clone Wars. He has climbed up the Imperial ranks and is overseeing the construction of the powerful Death Star. We all know how that ends. The Empire plans to use the weapon to control the galaxy by way of intimidation, but until it’s completed, they must push back insurgents and attacks. An exclusive audio excerpt from Tarkin takes us into the book. Listen:

You can’t slip anything past ol’ Wilhuff.

Produced by Jimmy Mac from RebelForce Radio, the clip features voice actor Stephen Stanton as Tarkin. Stanton played the character in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and has even dressed like the Grand Moff. Yes, he’s awesome. Michael Gregory narrates, Scott Allen of the 501st Legion is the male officer, and Kathy Niewoehner voices the female officer. The performances and sound effects in this specially made clip puts you right into the Star Wars universe.

To clarify, this isn’t an excerpt from the Star Wars: Tarkin audiobook. That is read and performed by Euan Morton.

Keep an eye out for our review of Tarkin in the coming weeks.

  1. It’s a pity that this clip didn’t come from the Tarkin audiobook. The voice actor who voiced Tarking does a fantastic Peter Cushing imitation.
