EXCLUSIVE: Grant Morrison’s THE MULTIVERSITY: THE SOCIETY OF SUPER-HEROES: CONQUERORS OF THE COUNTER-WORLD #1 Cover and Solicitation

Last May, I was invited to spend an evening at DC’s Burbank offices with Scottish comic book scribe to talk about two exciting new projects he had in the works, Wonder Woman: Earth One with artist Yannick Paquette and a highly ambitious project known as Multiversity, a nine-issue series that plays out like a multiversal Matroyshka doll with each issue taking place in a different parallel universe, featuring a different artist. The series, which debuts in August, continues in September with The Multiversity: The Society of Super-Heroes: Conquerors of the Counter-World #1, a mind-bending, pulpy trip to Earth-20 that pits a demonic Green Lantern, Doctor Fate, and the Blackhawks in a life-or-death battle against their Earth-40 counterparts lead by immortal asshole Vandal Savage. And today, at long last, we have your exclusive first look at the first issue’s Chris Sprouse/Karl Story-illustrated cover, and the official solicitation info courtesy of our friends at DC Comics.

The biggest adventure in DC Comics history continues!

Grant Morrison joins modern legend Chris Sprouse (TOM STRONG, BATMAN: RETURN OF BRUCE WAYNE, ACTION COMICS) for a trip to Earth-20 starring a Society of Super Heroes unlike anything you’ve seen before! It’s pulp Super Hero action with a post-modern twist — you can’t afford to miss it!

Who is the demon-like Green Lantern protecting Earth-20? What secret does Doc Fate hold that could save the world? Who are the hand-to-hand and air-to-air combat queens known as the Blackhawks? And what happens when these heroes come face to face with their diabolical Earth-40 counterparts – led by Vandal Savage – for an epic war between parallel worlds? Find out all that and more in this exciting stand-alone issue which also acts as chapter two of the overall MULTIVERSITY storyline. Join us, if you dare, for THE MULTIVERSITY!

I don’t know about you, but I am most definitely on board after that description.

Dan,Love it! Just fell down the rabbit hole of the DCU Multiverse as a fairly new comer to comics as a whole; consider my mind blown. I plan on having a lot more experience under my utility belt by the time Morrison’s new venture hits the shelf. Thanks for the heads-up, see you in September.
