Exclusive: Go Behind The Scenes of Paul McCartney’s DESTINY Music Video For ‘Hope For The Future’

“I want to hold your hand”– Paul McCartney, circa 1963.

“I am being turned into a hologram, and I am going to enter the world of Destiny and its landscapes”–Sir Paul McCartney, circa 2015.

What a difference half century makes, huh? But when you are a timeless musician and already the biggest living rock star the world has ever known, the next step is to conquer new planets as a hologram. And this is exactly what Sir Paul did in has latest music video for many folks’ game-of-the-year contender, Destiny. In true Obi-Wan fashion, McCartney appears as a hologram/beacon of hope and light in the actual universe of the Bungie FPS as he sings the uplifting end sequence song, “Hope For The Future”, which was recorded with a 120-piece orchestra at Abbey Road Studios.

In the behind-the-scenes footage, we get to see Paul, charming as ever, step out of his car into Hollywood, and get right to the green screen where a crew turns the former Beatle into a futuristic ambassador of peace and rock n’ roll. He even got a chance to play the game, and though he admits he wasn’t very good, he enjoyed customizing his own female protagonist with a killer red mohawk. Very punk, Mr. McCartney. Very punk.

Once you’ve watched the making-of video above, be sure to listen to Sir Paul’s conversation with Chris, Jonah, and Matt over at the Nerdist Podcast!
