Exclusive: DOCTOR WHO Eighth Doctor Comics Store Variant Covers

Back in July, we announced a five-issue miniseries of Doctor Who comics from Titan Comics featuring the Eighth Doctor, as assayed on TV by Paul McGann. The series is written by George Mann, the author of the bestselling Doctor Who novel Engines of War, with art by Emma Vieceli. The story, which debuts October 28, will see the Eighth Doctor investigating the mystery surrounding his new companion, Josie, and will also have “Victorian magic shows, murderous trees, lost books, crystalline life-forms, barges in space crammed with the undead… and the grand journey all begins in a sleepy Welsh town… besieged by living paintings!” Not too shabby if we say so ourselves.

In that initial post, we told showed you three variant covers for the first issue, and Nerdist now has the exclusive looks at five more variant covers, found only at certain retailers. A gallery is below.

The first cover is a photo variant using an image of McGann from the 50th Anniversary special prologue, “The Night of the Doctor,” now the official outfit of everyone’s favorite TV Movie Time Lord. This one can only be found through Alien Entertainment. The second features a gorgeous rendition of that same image by artist Mariano Laclaustra and is a Fried Pie exclusive. The third has the Eighth Doctor walking arm-in-arm with his new companion Josie—with art by Simon Myres—is a Forbidden Planet/Jet Pack exclusive. A Long Island Who Convention exclusive, the fourth cover is by Matthew Dow Smith and can be purchased between November 13-15, 2015 at the aforementioned event. And finally, the Eighth Doctor sitting on a park bench overlooking the Thames is by Rachael Stott & Hi-Fi and is a Who Shop International ‘sclu.

If you’re big in to variant covers, this is a veritable field day for you. But, regardless of which cover you get, the first issue is available on October 28. That’s next Wednesday, you know!

And while we’re talking Who, don’t you want to dissect the potential new companion possibilities with Emily V. Gordon? Of course you do!
