As the Doomsday Clock for DC’s big summer blockbuster event, “Trinity War,” approaches midnight, the whole of the New 52 is gearing up for the Justice League throwdown to end all Justice League throwdowns. In particular, the Trinity of Sin, the mysterious trio at the center of “Trinity War,” find themselves being drawn ever closer to conflict. In issue #10 of The Phantom Stranger, written by J.M. DeMatteis, illustrated by Fernando Blanco and with a spooky-as-hell cover from Jae Lee, The Stranger meets up with God himself, who doesn’t quite resemble a white bearded guy in robes so much as he does a Scottish terrier. Having plunged into the depths of Hell to rescue his family, the Stranger now faces a greater evil than he could have anticipated – the Sin Eater – and a choice that no man should ever have to make.
On the eve of âTrinity War,â the Stranger is forced to make the most difficult choice heâs faced in thousands of years walking in the wilderness. What or who could pose such a challenge?
