Exclusive: DC Comics Unveils EARTH 2: WORLD’S END Weekly Series

In case Batman Eternal wasn’t enough of a reason to get you going to your local comic book store each week, DC Comics is kicking off Wondercon weekend with a bang by announcing a brand new weekly series, Earth 2: World’s End. Much like Eternal, Earth 2: World’s End has assembled a veritable Justice League of creative talent, with Daniel H. Wilson, Tom Taylor, Paul Levitz, Marguerite Bennet, and Mike Johnson writing the series and Eddy Barrows, Jorge Jimenez, Stephen Segovia, Paulo Siqeira, and Tyler Kirkham providing the visual splendor.

For those of you who haven’t been following DC’s Earth-2 series, it’s been a fascinating alternate universe to explore, and World’s End looks like it’s going to crank the crisis dial up to eleven. Of the series, Wilson, who is serving as a showrunner of sorts, said, “This has been a charmed opportunity to jump straight into the deep end of a gritty, complex DC Comics series. I feel incredibly lucky to work with Mike Cotton and the rest of the legendary DC team, figuring out the ultimate fates (and sometimes origins) of so many compelling Earth 2 characters in crisis. I’m having the time of my life.”

While you’ll have to wait until October 2014 to see what’s in store for the denizens of Earth 2, we have en exclusive piece of promo art from Ben Oliver to tide you over.

Huntress in peril? Doctor Fate’s helmet on the ground? Exploding planets? Whatever DC has in store for Earth 2, with a subtitle like World’s End, it can’t be good.

  1. The next series I’d like to see is “New 52: World’s End.”

  2. LukashCartoon says:

The fact Taylor and Levitz is involved makes it groovy to me. I just hope they don’t bring the Earth 2 people to Earth 1. That would make me sad.

  3. Fuggit says:

These are terrible bloody writers; Taylor can’t even pace well enough to make the story engaging. Get ready for more OH NO EVIL SUPERMAN IS DESTROYING EVERYTHING AND WE’RE UTTERLY HELPLESS.

  4. TravMoody says:

    Chris, you’re buggin’.

  5. Taj Hill says:

Talk about burying the lead..Val Zod will be the Superman of Earth 2..

  6. ConSafo80 says:

I’ll definitley be getting this Taylor is killing it on Earth 2 I didn’t like Maguirite Bennets Batgirl #30 but I thought her Zero Year Batgirl tie in was good and her Lois Lane one shot was excellent. I just hope DC don’t have any more weekly books to come out as 3 is enough but wasn’t there a Superman weekly book rumoured?

  7. Chris says:

How exactly is this a “Justice League of creative talent?” Wilson’s a novelist who’s never written in comics, Taylor hasn’t exactly been killing it on E-2, and Bennet is probably the worst writer DC has.

It’s more a “Justice League of people who aren’t good enough to have their own books right now.”

  8. Andy says:

    Whyyyyy weekly? WHYYYY?!

  9. Randy Rose says:

    Unevils or unveils?

  10. Kenny says:

This makes me think that they might kill off the Earth 2 series and integrate some of the non-redundant Golden Age characters in the book into the main DCU.

Or it could just be another weekly series with a provocative name and teaser image. DC loves those.
