Exclusive: Check Out a Gallery of Concept Art from Titan Books’ CHAPPIE: THE ART OF THE MOVIE

As the recent unveiling of Neill Blomkamp’s Alien movie concept art — as well as the subsequent news that Blomkamp would indeed be directing an Alien film — made clear, the District 9 helmer’s visual ideas have a way of getting people excited. So with Blomkamp’s latest film Chappie out in theaters this weekend, we thought we’d share with you some exclusive images from Titan Books’ new Chappie: The Art of the Movie. Written by Peter E. Aperlo and packed with concept art and behind-the-scenes photography of the film’s sets and robots, it offers tons of new background info on Chappie‘s development and evolution; illustrating the striking difference, for example, between the original imagining of the film’s Deon character and the final interpretation once actor Dev Patel was cast in the role. Check out the preview gallery below, which also features concept art of the film’s Moose robot.

Chappie is now playing in theaters across America, and stars a couple of folks sci-fi film fans may have heard — they go by the names Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver (now set to reprise once more her iconic role of Ellen Ripley in Blomkamp’s Alien sequel). The film also stars Sharlto Copley (who appeared in Blomkamp’s last movie Elysium, as well as the filmmaker’s breakthrough District 9), Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire), Jose Pablo Cantillo (The Walking Dead), and South African rappers Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er as themselves.

Did you see Chappie this weekend? If so, what did you think? And how do its images compare to those in the above gallery? Let us know below!
