Exclusive: A BIG HERO 6 Deleted Scene with a Hook

One of the best geek movies of last year, and one of the five Oscar-nominated animated features at the upcoming Oscars, is Disney’s Big Hero 6, based on the Marvel Comics book of the same name, created by Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau. The movie follows a young robotic genius named Hiro in the futuristic and awesome San Fransokyo who ends up becoming the central figure in a superhero team consisting of his four also-genius friends and a large, balloony helper robot, Baymax. The movie proved that intelligence and friendship are more important than brawn and anger. A very good thing for anybody to learn, young or old.

It proved to be an exciting and lovely movie, but there was more to the story than we saw onscreen in the finished film. In conjunction with the release of Big Hero 6 on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere Tuesday February 3rd, and on Blu-ray and DVD February 27th, we’ve got an exclusive clip of a deleted scene from the film, which was voiced and storyboarded but never actually animated. It’s a rough-cut and it’s here for you to check out below.

The scene involves Fred, aka Fredzilla, (voiced by the great T.J. Miller) attempting to retrieve Hiro and the suitcased Baymax from a second story window using the power of the grappling hook, a must for superhero origins everywhere. Unfortunately, Fred’s more excited than he is skilled and it doesn’t work all that well.
