The end is approaching. The end of the games, the end of the war, and maybe the end of Panem as we know it. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will wrap the story of Katniss Everdeen on November 20, but she still has a long way to go to get there. The trailer for the film has a touch of optimism and determination but mostly emphasizes how the odds are stacked against everyone who isn’t President Snow. He radiates intimidation and even though the odds don’t seem to be in his favor, eitherâand he probably doesn’t have quite the numbers that the rebels doâit seems more than possible for him to come out ahead.
There are plenty of frightening things on display in the Mockingjay Part 2 trailer besides Snow, but let’s focus on the biggest concern. Snow has worked with the Gamemakers to turn the streets of the Capitol into a giant arena. It’s essentially The Hunger Games on a bigger scale. So many traps light up the mapâit feels and looks hopelessâthat getting to Snow is going to be an incredible challenge. Katniss has a talented team at her back, but yikes. Sacrifice and hardship are undoubtedly ahead, so I’m just going to go and set aside tissues for November now.
Book readers: How about that glimpse of Eugenie Bondurant as Tigris? And that other heartbreaking shot with you know who? Maybe I’m going to need to the tissues now.
What do you think of the trailer? Sound off in the comments and please, no spoilers from the books.
