Even More Details About FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM

The newest issue of Entertainment Weekly has featured a number of new images and info from the set of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the upcoming movie set in the world of Harry Potter over 70 years before the novels.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is loosely based on J.K. Rowling’s book of the same name, but Rowling also worked on the screenplay for the movie which greatly expands upon the foundation she created in the original Harry Potter stories. Today, EW has posted a few new tidbits from the Fantastic Beasts cover feature, and they are quite interesting.

For starters, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) won’t be a solo hero in the movie. Instead, he’ll be joined by Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol), and Jacob (Dan Fogler) as co-leads in the movie. Jacob is also the first non-wizard to be a main character in a story set in this world. The article also notes that the entire movie will be set in New York in 1926, as opposed to the globetrotting adventure that the filmmakers originally had in mind.

As revealed earlier this week, American muggles are called “No-Maj,” and they are definitely less tolerant of their magical counterparts. The New Salem Philanthropic Society (led by Samantha Morton’s Mary Lou) is out to expose the community of wizards in the United States. And instead of the Ministry of Magic, America has the Magical Congress of the United States of America, which is located inside of the Woolworth Building.

Finally, the EW report also reveals that Rowling has already planned out two potential sequels to Fantastic Beasts that may feature characters from the Harry Potter novels. However, there was no indication as to who could make an appearance as their much younger selves.

You can learn more about the film by reading EW’s special report at this link. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be released on November 18, 2016.
