Evangeline Lilly recently rocked an almost superheroic role as the fierce elf Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and now she may be joining the Marvel cinematic universe. The actress is reportedly in talks to be the female lead in the upcoming Ant-Man. She’d be starring opposite Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and working alongside Michael Douglas and Michael Pena.
The Hollywood Reporter notes, “It is unclear who Lilly would play but it is not intended to be a one-off appearance.” My first guess would be that Lilly is stepping into the shoes of Janet van Dyne, a/k/a Wasp, but since Rudd is playing the Scott Lang iteration of Ant-Man and not Henry Pym, that doesn’t seem likely. More’s the pity; it would be interesting to see Lilly as Wasp.
Regardless of the character, it sounds like she will appear in more than just one Marvel film. Ant-Man drops on July 17, 2015. Lilly could reprise her role in any Marvel film, but the timing is such that it might put her in play for the third Avengers film.
Who do you think Evangeline Lilly could be in talks to portray? Let us know in the comments.

I’m holding out on Mariska Hargitay as the Wasp
I still think she’s likely playing the wasp. If Michael Douglas is Pym, it’s doubtful they’ll make Janet a Pym contemporary. You’d essentially be aging two great characters out of the MCU, instead of just the one…
