Eric Powell Announces The End Of THE GOON

Eric Powell’s The Goon has been publishing for over a decade and a half now over at Dark Horse Comics, garnering rave reviews and developing a loyal cult following among comics fans. Now it appears that Powell will be giving us the end of The Goon saga; in an AMA with Reddit this week he announced that the latest Goon story arc, titled Once Upon a Hard Time, is very likely the finale of the Goon story.

During the AMA, Powell said “Once Upon a Hard Time is the climax to everything I’ve done in The Goon so far. In fact, it may be the last story entitled The Goon I ever do. The mythology I’ve created will keep going. But I’m creating new characters to interact with the old ones, shifting barely used characters to the limelight, and putting everyone in different environments. The next mini-series I do involving this mythology will have a different title and will feature a large cast of characters including several who survive the last Goon series.”

The Goon has been a long running series which blends comedy and adventure, all with a kooky supernatural bent, has the title character fighting everything from zombies, ghosts, mutants, robots, evil scientists, gangsters and mob bosses, and pretty much everything else under the sun. The first part of The Goon: Once Upon A Hard Time goes on sale from Dark Horse Comics this coming February.
