Epic New Trailer for KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS Is Magical

“Your village is burned to the ground, your enemies aren’t far behind. We need to go now.”

This third trailer for the absolutely beautiful looking animated film Kubo and the Two Strings finds our young hero already separated from his home and family, and having the task before him explained by Monkey (voiced by Charlize Theron), who was brought to life by the magic of Kubo’s mother to aid him. It was his mother’s magic that saved Kubo from a spirit with an ancient grudge–the one Kubo accidentally summoned.

Kubo-Two-Strings
Kubo is only now learning just how powerful he and his family really are, but he must head out to “save his family and solve the mystery of his fallen father, the greatest samurai warrior the world has ever known.” Along with Monkey, he is also joined by Beetle (voiced by Matthew McConaughey), a warrior who was his father’s student. Kubo also has his shamisen, a musical instrument that he uses to perform his magic. We see in this trailer, when he uses it to create a huge boat, just how powerful he and it can be.

Kubo himself is voiced by Art Parkinson, whom you might know as (if you even remember his character) Rickon Stark on Game of Thrones. This is the latest film from the animation studio Laika, which also made Coraline and ParaNorman, and it features the voices of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, George Takei, Rooney Mara, and Ralph Fiennes, as (what else?) the “vengeful Moon King.”

Every trailer and clip from this film has looked gorgeous, but unfortunately we have to wait until August 19th for his quest to begin.

What are your thoughts on the film after this new trailer? Tell us in the comments below.
