If you’re like me, you keep on scrolling when you get to a video on Instagram. Who wants to see your friend’s cat in 15 second form when a simple photo suffices? But, you’d be a silly fool to scroll past the Instagram feed of Rachel Ryle without lingering. She’s turned the format into a showcase for her stop-motion animated brilliance, combining drawings, cut-outs, and even her own hands for the purposes of fun. And it’s a destination on the app, too, being named the top Instagram feed by both Buzzfeed and MTV, which are two sites that know about Instagram feeds.
Now, Ms. Ryle has lent her skills to a brief but awesome trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming Kingsman: The Secret Service, which opens this Friday, February 13th. The film is about a young London lad who gets taken in by a mysterious secret agent to try out to become a Kingsman, dapper and refined people who run swanky clothiers, but are also lethal and carry the fate of the world on their shoulders, just about every chance they get. Colin Firth stars as Agent Galahad, the mentor to young Eggsy, played by Taron Egerton, who is attempting to unravel a massive international criminal enterprise, ultimately the machinations of a billionaire software magnate, played with speech-impeded flare by Samuel L. Jackson. It’s a great movie, which I’ve reviewed here.
But without further adieu, enjoy the trailer by Rachel Ryle.
It’s some excellent work, and worth watching on a loop for at least a few minutes. If you’d like to see more of Rachel’s work, you can find all of her art, animations, and illustrations on her website (www.rachelryle.com)
Go check out her work, and watch the film when it comes out on Friday. Two things, you guys; it’s the centaur of recommendations.
