ENDER’S GAME Film Producers Hosting A STARCRAFT II Tournament

You can easily see the similarities between Ender’s Game and StarCraft, as the movie depicts a boy presumedly playing a StarCraft-like game with what would be a Kinect in front of what is seemingly a big screen. Now, Lionsgate and Oddlot Entertainment are looking to promote the Ender’s Game release on Blu-Ray and DVD by teaming up with Major League Gaming and Twitch.tv for the “Ender’s Game on Blu-Ray Tournament.”

From February 5th through 22nd, 32 U.S.-based players will go to war playing Starcraft II for $20,000 in prize money. There will be two qualifying rounds held over the next couple of weeks, a round for MLG and a round for Twitch, with the winners of each round battling it out in the finals for the grand prize of $10,000. The first round will run on Twitch.TV February 5-9, and the second round will run on MLG.tv February 11-16.

This makes perfect sense, when you think about it. What better way to promote a sci-fi movie about a prodigal realtime strategist then by using the most popular sci-fi realtime strategy franchise of all time?

Ender’s Game will be released for Blu-Ray and DVD on February 11.

And it’s already happened. I should’ve checked the date.
At least Polt was in it.

A Starcraft tournament without the Korean-based players being invited? What a joke that will be.

The “winner” of this tournament will never have to face Jaedong, Bomber, Taeja, aLive, SoS, MC, Scarlett, nor the many Korean-league players who have beaten these more-famous players a few times but aren’t quite so famous.

Go look at the WCS rankings. Now subtract out the Korean flags. Winning the Ender’s Tournament will be meaningless. The winner will be “champion” of a tomato cannery.
