Yesterday, Empire Magazine revealed a cover that had the first full-body image of Jared Letoâs Joker from the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. Today, Empire unleashed two additional covers: another image of Leto as the Joker and the best look yet at Cara Delevingneâs Enchantress.
While the Suicide Squad movie is getting a lot of attention for using Letoâs Joker, Margot Robbieâs Harley Quinn, and Will Smithâs Deadshot, the film will also feature several lesser known DC villains as they are forcibly coerced into acting as an expendable team of operatives.
June Moone a.k.a. Enchantress was one of the members of the Suicide Squad during the mid â80s comic run that redefined the team. The look of Enchantress in the movie differs greatly from her original comic book incarnation, but it plays up on her feral side, according to Delevingne.
“She’s an ancient sorceress,” said Delevingne during her interview with Empire. “A feral being. She’s been trapped for so long and now she’s finally let out.” The feature noted that June Moone became possessed by Enchantress while exploring a cave. “June is an adventure-seeker who’s always wanted some excitement. And she gets what she wished for, in an terrible way.” That seems to imply that we will see Delevingne as June at some point in the movie.
While speaking to Empire, Leto opened up about his process of becoming the new Clown Prince of Crime.
âThere was definitely a period of⦠detachment,â explained Leto. âI took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique opportunity and I couldnât imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games⦠It was painful, like giving birth out of my p***k-hole.â
Ouch.
Empire will release more Suicide Squad cover images later this week. The Suicide Squad movie hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
