Earlier this week, Jared Letoâs Joker was given two Empire Magazine covers, and we got a look at Cara Delevingneâs unsettling take on Enchantress. Today, Empire Magazineâs roll-out of Suicide Squad covers continues with a spotlight on two of the filmâs biggest stars: Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Will Smith as Deadshot.
According to the accompanying article, it looks like fans may actually see Dr. Harleen Quinzelâs therapy sessions with the Joker before she descends into madness as Harley Quinn. Robbie also shared the story of what happened when she researched Harley Quinnâs comic book costumes with her mother nearby.
âWhen I got the role I started looking up Harley costumes online, with my mum sitting next to me,â related Robbie in Empire. âShe was like, âMy daughter is going to dress like a prostitute!â There are a lot of angry mothers out there!â
Robbie and Smith previously co-starred in the dark romantic comedy Focus. And during his feature interview, Smith hinted that Deadshot a.k.a. Floyd Lawton may have a romantic interest in Harley as well.
âDeadshotâs actually eyeballing [Harley] a little bit. Thereâs a pretty ragged romantic triangle there.â He added, âOn Bad Boys I trained in Miami with special-ops guys, but this is a whole other level.â
There is some precedent for the Deadshot and Harley Quinn hookup. Itâs previously happened in both The New 52 Suicide Squad and in the animated movie, Batman: Assault on Arkham.
The new issue of Empire Magazine goes on sale Thursday, October 29. The Suicide Squad movie will be released on August 5th, 2016.
