Emma Stone is Marvel’s SPIDER-GWEN in New Remix Trailer

In the comic book world, Gwen Stacy was famous largely because of her unforgettable death during a battle between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin. But that changed last year when Jason Latour and artist Robbi Rodriguez introduced a Gwen Stacy from an alternate world during the Spider-Verse crossover. In this reality, Gwen was bitten by the radioactive spider and she became Spider-Woman. But she’s better known as Spider-Gwen to her rapidly growing fan following.

The newest remix trailer from Vulture revives Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy as Spider-Gwen, with footage pulled from Easy A, Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man movie, Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2, as well as Birdman. In fact. the trailer uses Birdman as an alternate version of Spider-Man’s longtime enemy, The Vulture. Alex Coulombe directed and edited the video, with cosplayer Julianne Cancalosi stepping in as Spider-Gwen for the full-costume shots.

The Spider-Gwen trailer notably plays down the role Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) to a minimum while focusing on the relationship between Gwen and her father, Police Captain George Stacy (Denis Leary). Fans may also recognize James Dooley’s music from The Flash TV series, which is also used in the Spider-Gwen video.

Given the increasing popularity of Spider-Gwen, an appearance within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not out of the question. And while Stone will probably never play the part again, this video demonstrates just how much fun a Spider-Gwen solo movie could have been.
