ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK Returns to Television This October on Hulu

Before she was “The Queen of Halloween”, and her likeness was used to sell just about every product under the sun (or is that moon?) during the month of October, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark was America’s premier television horror movie host, or as she preferred to be known, “the hostess with the mostest.” Her original syndicated horror movie series Movie Macabre ran from 1981-1987, and then later returned in 2010 for another season, some two decades later, following in the tradition of such horror movie hosts of the past like Zacherly, Ghoulardi, and Vampira.

Now news has hit (via Shock til You Drop) that it’s coming back yet again, for 13 Nights of Elvira, which will be streaming exclusively on Hulu starting on October 19th. Just like the classic Movie Macabre, Elvira will rip apart a series of low budget (and usually awful) horror films like Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death, Evil Bong, Seed People, and Shrunken Heads, all culminating on Halloween night with the classic Night of the Living Dead. Besides appearing on Hulu this month with a revamped version of her series, Elvira also returns to headline her live stage show at Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween Haunt. Now if only she would release her camptastic 1988 movie Elvira, Mistress of the Dark on Blu-ray, my Halloween season would be complete.

Take a peek at the opening credits for the most recent season of Elvira’s Movie Macabre (complete with an opening theme by Jack White!), and keep checking back here for more #Nerdoween content all October long!
