Elton John Joins James Corden for Carpool Karaoke

James Corden might be a genius. Late night talk show hosts get to sit and chat with famous musicians all the time, but only he drives around with him, singing their greatest hits together. I mean, how many times have you been in your car with your friend singing “Tiny Dancer?” Well, he just did that too, but his friend was Elton John himself.

In the latest edition of The Late Late Show‘s Carpool Karaoke, Corden and John hit the roads of Los Angeles to sing some of John’s best known songs, like “Your Song,” “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me,” and “I’m Still Standing.”

They also discussed his flamboyant costumes, what it’s like to be such a legendary musician, some of his famous tantrums, fatherhood, and how John can’t just buy one copy of any album. It turns out he needs four, one for each of his homes. That led to us learning a very bizarre fact about the musician–he doesn’t own a cellphone. “There’s usually a security person with a phone,” he said, “I do have an iPad.”

“So right now I could legitimately kidnap you and you wouldn’t be able to call anyone,” said Corden.

“But I’ve been wanting you to do that for years.”

These Carpool Karaoke sessions are proving to be one of the most sincerely enjoyable segments in late night. I mean, where else do you get an image like this.
