At the end of a great scary movie, after two hours of tense, dark, brooding panic, full of characters and monsters alike that made your skin crawl, you can feel so uneasy you just randomly decide tonight you’re going to try falling asleep with the T.V. on. As well as a light–or two–or all of them. Those images, that story, the payoff, the lingering fear, all of it is what makes being scared so much fun.

Of course, if someone jumps out of a closet wearing a Jason mask you probably lose your mind all the same. Horror can come in small doses, but it can leave a lasting impact, and that’s exactly what Eli Roth will try to prove with his newest digital contest.

Variety reports that the horror director will run a new online contest–backed by the digital genre network he co-created, CryptTV–for which he is asking his fans to create short videos on Instagram, using the hashtag #15SecondScare.

The winner will get $10,000 and his or her video will be made into a short by CryptTV. To determine the lucky winner, Roth has put together an all-star panel of judges headlined by Quentin Tarantino and Roth himself, as well as Jordan Peele, deadmau5, Vanessa Hudgens, director Gaspar Noé (Enter the Void), and producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity).

This is not the first online contest Roth has created that is a little different. This past July, Roth and CryptTV ran a murder mystery on SnapChat that asked fans to find the killer in 24 hours on SnapChat’s site.

The winner of the #15SecondScare contest will be announced on Halloween.
