Edgar Wright Live-Tweeted SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD Over the Weekend

On Friday night, Edgar Wright discovered his movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was playing on television. He decided this would be a great opportunity for a little live-tweet/Q&A session… and maybe one to hopefully bump up ratings enough that the British station would play the film a bit more frequently. With yet another cast member getting cast in a superhero role (now Brie Larson, after Brandon Routh and Chris Evans), the movie has started getting increased attention again, so the timing seemed perfect. Also, it’s just a damn delightful film, and should be watched as often as possible.

The entire thing, which we found thanks to Indiewire, was a magical Twitter experience. While some of Wright’s tweets were funny and sweet with nods to Brie Larson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead…

…Wright also gave us some interesting tidbits of info from shooting the film. For instance, he let us know the unique wrap gift he offered Jason Schwartzman (who Wright claims was the funniest cast member on set) after the actor had to continuously swallow his gum on every take. After all, a clean system is important.

Of course, the live tweet was also full of some other interesting pieces of Scott Pilgrim trivia. For instance, despite what the internet rumors may tell you, Wright did not fly to the Nintendo headquarters to personally ask Shigeru Miyamoto for permission to use Zelda music in the film. However, he did put a personal touch on it by sending a letter. And though it may be out of service now, Ramona Flowers’ phone number was an actual, functioning phone number at the time of production. If you’ve called it and gotten through successfully, you’ll have to tell us all what happens in the comments. You can head to Edgar Wright’s Twitter to check out the entire tweet session.

What is your favorite part of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World? Who is your favorite of Ramona’s evil exes? Tell us about it in the comments!
