Eddie Vedder wrote âDaughterâ long before he ever had one, but now that he does, heâs putting her to good use.
Yesterday, PearlJamOnline.it, an Italian fan site of the Seattle grunge band (yes Pearl Jam is so famous that they have an Italian-specific fan site) dug up a duet between Vedder and his youngest daughter, Harper. The family duo rocked a solid rendition of the Batman themeâthe hokey, surfy, super complex and wordy (just kidding) one from the days when Adam West was the caped crusader. Itâs one of the more adorable things youâll hear in your life:
The track appeared on SiriuxSMâs new Pearl Jam Radio broadcast during an interview with Vedder and author Mark Ian Wilkerson, as Billboard writes. Wilkerson recently wrote a book called Tomas Young’s War, which details the relationship between a young Army vet and an outspoken Iraq War criticâthe latter became friends with the Pearl Jam frontman. What that has to do with Batman we may never know; the important thing to remember is that thereâs no wrong time to record and debut that version of the Batman theme you did with your young daughter (as long as you’re Eddie Vedder).
The father-daughter duo also teamed up on âThe Traveler,â a track featured on Cameron Croweâs 2015 film, Aloha. Harperâs only seven years old now, but thereâs no denying that sheâs got the right genes. We could have a star in the makingâthis song could even cheer up Sad Affleck.
