Eddie Murphy’s Tracy Morgan Impersonation Is the Best

Among the many weapons in his comedic arsenal, Eddie Murphy has always had a gift for impersonation. Last week, Murphy unleashed one of his best impersonations yet: his friend and fellow comedian, Tracy Morgan.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week to promote his new movie, Mr. Church. During the segment, Jimmy Kimmel related the story that Morgan had shared with him about Murphy making him laugh while Morgan was recovering from the serious car accident he suffered on tour in 2014. Kimmel brought up the time that Murphy visited Morgan during his convalescence and cooked for him, which led Murphy to do a pitch-perfect take on Morgan’s voice and physical mannerisms.

Murphy as Morgan: “That’s why I’m gonna always be cool with Eddie because he made me them franks!”

The studio audience was very impressed, and Kimmel added that it was “easily the best Tracy Morgan imitation I’ve ever seen!” Of course, Murphy had a lot more to say on the show than simply imitating his friend. He also imitated his brother, Charlie Murphy when relating the story about his decision to pursue comedy when he was 15-years old.

Murphy also showed off a clip from Mr. Church, in which he shared the screen with Britt Robertson. After it played, Murphy jokingly spoke about crying on screen…but not in the way that Kimmel was expecting to hear.

Murphy’s film, Mr. Church will be out in selected theaters next Friday, September 16. Hopefully Kimmel is right about Murphy’s Oscar chances!
