Eddie Murphy Courts Belle in the BEAUTY AND THE BEAST “Weird Trailer”

Next week, Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast may kick both Logan and Kong: Skull Island to the curb as it races to the top of the box office. But before Belle and her Beast get to party all the time, they’ll have to deal with a gatecrasher: Eddie Murphy!

Aldo Jones, whose prior “weird trailers” have been a bit more random, has released Eddie and the Beast, a spoof trailer that adds footage of Eddie Murphy to several scenes from Beauty and the Beast. Essentially, Eddie finds himself competing for Belle’s heart and not only going up against Gaston and the Beast, but also Belle’s extreme disinterest in him. There’s a lot of classic Eddie in here too, from Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America, The Nutty Professor, Bowfinger, and even Donkey from Shrek. Although Mushu from Mulan could have also worked.

Three is definitely a crowd when Eddie is around, as multiple Eddie Murphy characters disrupt the famous waltz between Belle and the Beast, and the Klumps have apparently moved into the enchanted castle. There is also a pretty hilarious visual of both Eddie and the Beast baring their fangs, as well as the amusing implication that Eddie somehow managed to defeat the Beast in head-to-head combat. Although he really does make Gaston’s big musical number even better. Because if anyone could match Gaston’s larger than life personality, it’s definitely Eddie Murphy!
