Earn a College Scholarship Writing About Zelda

Its that time of year again for college students. Young adults all around the world are finishing up with spring semester, and combing the web for opportunities to whittle down next semester’s tuition. If you find yourself in that boat, and believe you’re living your life just as Link would if he were attending college–sans the talking fairy, sword, or shield–you may want to check out the scholarship being offered by Legend of Zelda fan site Hidden Triforce. You know, because you can’t just run around demolishing pots to earn a quick rupee or two like a certain hero of time can.

The scholarship, which is appropriately dubbed: “Triforce of Wisdom Scholarship”,  is one run by Hidden Triforce each year to offer one lucky applicant the chance to win $500. To be able to apply, you must be a high school senior (or in college), a U.S. citizen, and enrolled either full or part time at any accredited school or institute.

The next step for those who meet that criteria is to write a 500-2,000 word essay answering the prompt: “Describe a time when you have displayed an exceptional amount of courage or wisdom to accomplish a goal in life.” I know what you’re thinking, courage and wisdom are only 2/3 of the almighty Triforce. But, I think you’ll agree with me in saying that writing an essay on a time when you showed an exceptional amount of power to accomplish a goal, would probably be a bad idea.

If you decide to enter, you have until December 15, 2015 to send in your application. The one and only winner will be announced January 31, 2016. For more details on how to enter, check out the “Triforce of Wisdom” application page!
