Dwayne Johnson to Star in Film Adaptation of Classic Game RAMPAGE

Sometimes, when a film does well at the box office, it will warrant a sequel. Then there are times where a film doesn’t do well enough to gamble on a sequel, but well enough that those involved in the film are favored. This seems to the be the case with this summer’s disaster film San Andreas. While the film has not been the giant hit that some may have assumed it would be, it has not soured New Line Cinema to the idea of re-teaming star Dwayne Johnson and producer Beau Flynn. This time, it seems New Line has their sites set on the rocky world of video game adaptations, as it has been announced that Johnson will head the cast for a big-screen version of Midway’s arcade classic Rampage.

The ’80s arcade hit placed players in the role of three different characters who have been transformed into giant monsters for one reason or another. Players would then compete to see who could cause more destruction in a city while avoiding attacks by the military. A screenplay is currently in the works from Ryan Engle, who wrote the Liam Neeson film Non-Stop, and they’re aiming to start production by summer of next year. So, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be turning into either a giant gorilla or a giant wolf on screen, and destroying a city for the **** of it.
