Duran Duran and Chic Announce US Tour for 2016

You can forget One Direction, NSYNC, The Backstreet Boys, and even New Kids on the Block; the greatest boy band to ever walk the face of the Earth was none other than the UK’s New Wave heartthrobs, Duran Duran. Ok, ok, I’ll admit, as a member of Generation X, I might be a wee bit biased in that assessment, as the first LP that I ever owned was the group’s Seven and the Ragged Tiger. What can I say? I’m a true child of the ’80s.

Nevertheless, some thirty plus years after the band first hit the music charts and the cover of Teen Beat magazine, their music holds up in a way that most “boy band” music doesn’t. And unlike most boy bands, either from back in the day or today, their audience transcended the typical throngs of teenage girls and covered all demographics. Back then, everyone knew the lyrics to “Hungry Like the Wolf” and “Rio“.

Still going strong today, Duran Duran has just announced that they will tour across the United States next summer in support of their latest album Paper Gods, along with special guest Chic and Nile Rodgers. Chic, of course, is the legendary disco act known for hits like “Le Freak” and “Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah! Yowsah! Yowsah!)”, making this show a perfect double bill of retro fun. The tour will run from March through August, with Chic joining in April during the band’s Tampa date. The 28-date tour will end on August 3 in Glendale, Arizona. Tickets will go on sale on December 12.
