DUCKTALES Reboot Cast Announced with David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck and More TV News

Happy Rogue One release day! Before you head out to see the film and immerse yourself in all the Star Wars feels, take a minute to hang with me and catch up on the latest television news. Today’s TV-Cap has a DuckTales ear worm and cast announcement, a poster for Riverdale, some Trollhunters goodness, and more.

It’s a Hurricane. Your Friday needs some DuckTales fun, I can tell. I mean, don’t you want to see David Tennant singing the original theme song? He’s part of the new DuckTales cast–he’s playing Scrooge McDuck–and he joins his fellow cast members in a romping version of the original cartoon’s theme song. Who else is joining Tennant in the cast? Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan as Huey, Dewey, and Louie, respectively, Beck Bennett as Launchpad, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack. Heck. Yes. [Nerdist]

You’ll Be Back. Hamilton’s getting a new King George in January. Rory O’Malley is stepping down on January 15, and Saturday Night Live alum Taran Killam is taking the scepter and stepping up. You could say he’s not throwing away his shot. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Going It Alone. The Lonely Island trio has landed a pilot order at Freeform for their comedy Alone Together. The series focuses on “platonic best friends who want nothing more than to be accepted by the vain and status-obsessed culture.” We’ll you keep updated if Freeform orders a full season. [Deadline]

So Moody. Milkshakes, intense looks, a hint of murder—the newly released poster for Riverdale says it all. What do you think of this shot? [TVLine, Image: The CW]

Make Shelf Space. Funko has two new licenses and collections—they’re secretly planning to take over all the shelf space in the entire world. I’m onto them. Anyway. Funko’s latest Pop! releases are for Lost and Ren and Stimpy. See the rest of the figures right here at Nerdist. [Image: Funko]

It’s Baaack. Remember The Honeymooners? CBS has a modern day reboot in the works with writer and executive producer Bob Kushell. Learn more at The Hollywood Reporter.

Carnival Time. Who’s gonna drop by the December 18 episode of The Librarians? I could make you guess about the upcoming guests on the TNT series, but I’ll just tell you: Felicia Day and Sean Astin. See them in the above clip. [IGN]

VHS Usefulness. The awesome footage in Planet Earth II is accompanied by the striking and dulcet sounds of David Attenborough’s narration. He’s been narrating for decades, so it’s no surprise he nails it. And guess what? He still uses VHS tapes to help him get the job done. Read more here at Nerdist.

A Dazzling World. Netflix’s Trollhunters will be here on December 23, and it’s time to go behind the scenes with a featurette looking into the world created by Guillermo del Toro. The cast and crew talk about the mythology, the world-building, and more. I’m so into this concept. [Slashfilm]

Knowing Your Job. Hulu’s original series The Path will premiere season two on January 25, and it doesn’t look like it’s kidding around. All sorts of sexy, creepy, and loaded moments are featured in the above trailer. And if the music sounds familiar and it’s bugging you, let me help: it’s used in the opening credits of The Shannara Chronicles.

Will you be watching Trollhunters? Tell me in the comments.
