Did you ever watch the opening sequence to DuckTales and think, “Yep, this needs more ducks?”
That’s the wonderful reasoning that gets us “DuckTales Theme Song With Real Ducks,” the latest video from Oh My Disney. The group reproduced the beloved opening of the Disney animated series using real ducks as stand-ins for Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, and Louie… which is how you get a real-live duck doing the money vault coin dive. Aliens, mummies, monsters, and robots – the only thing it’s missing is a couple of Beagle Boys chasing the kids up a cliff face.
Oh My Disney is the Mouse House’s own blog where they run all sorts of pop culture-related Disney fare; in this case, they’ve taken the time out to wrangle some cute ducklings to reenact a little piece of the ’90s. The blog is kicking off a ’90s week, and I have no idea how they plan to get bears to cooperate for the Tailspin opening sequence. I feel like they’d lose them the first time the plane did a barrel roll.
By the way, the staple of the Disney Afternoon animation block turns 27 this month (it premiered in mid-September ’87 with its first miniseries) – am I the only one wondering when/if Disney might consider remastering the previous home video releases? It’s been almost 10 years since the release of the “just good enough” DVDs, and I can imagine some fans out there might dig seeing some improved picture quality and features above and beyond the previous releases.
What other â90s gems need a live-action treatment? Let us know in the comments below!
