The usual luxuries of voice actingâthe freedom to experiment with different deliveries, or to start over and try again if you make a mistakeâare just not possible when performing in front of an audience. You get one shot and one shot only to get it right. So the pressure was on for the cast of Disney Channel’s DuckTales when they gathered in Disneyland last weekend for the show’s first ever live read. But rather than be psyched out by the situation they psyched themselves up, with a very unique, very funny, duck-specific pep talk.
In this exclusive clip, Ben Schwartz (the voice of Dewey) led David Tennant, Bobby Moynihan, Danny Pudi, Kate Micucci, and Toks Olagundoye in a rousing rally before they headed out for their first live table read together. And what better way to get ready to play a bunch of ducks than by truly finding the voices of their characters?
The table read was part of the Disney Channel GO! Fan Fest held on May 12 at Disneyland, which gave fans a chance to meet some of their favorite stars from the network, including the DuckTales cast.
The Simpsons explained to us years ago why very few cartoons are broadcast live (“It’s a terrible strain on the animator’s wrists”), but can we find other reasons to get these people together in real more often? They don’t even have to do a table read for usâwe’d be happy to just watch their pep talks!
