DRUNK HISTORY Stumbles Through the Science of The Big Bang

Drunk History has been going strong two season on Comedy Central, and the third season has finally premiered with new stories and the same inebriated twists. For their premiere episode, the show looked into important stories from the history of New Jersey and Derek Waters, creator and host, sat down to talk with comedian Jenny Slate for one of them.

Jenny’s story touched on The Holmdel Horn Antenna and how its use by radio astronomers Arno Penias and Robert Wilson (as played by Justin Long and Jason Ritter) led to major discovery in support of the Big Bang Theory.

While Drunk History began as a video series on Funny Or Die, it made the transition to cable television back in 2013. The main attraction has always been known comedians acting out drunk ramblings, which the TV show carries on, but the show now rests on drunken tales from other comedians. While these stories are still fun to watch, it makes me wonder how much of the story is the alcohol talking, and how much is the comedian trying to be funny for the camera.

Ritter and Long are the true stars of the video though, as they are tied to following the story and dialogue created by a drunk woman while playing the characters of two scientists in the 1960s. Hopefully this will mark the first of many appearances from Justin Long.
