Don’t Run Away from these Funko POP MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL Figures

Yet another battle in Funko’s war to obtain licensing rights for every intellectual property even dreamed up by a human has been won and another kingdom has been engulfed by the Funko POP empire. The kingdom in question is a particularly silly one — one full of unladen swallows, Knights Who Say Ne, and many a cartoon peril.

The first five vinyl figures in the company’s Monty Python and the Holy Grail line have been unveiled and they’re some doozies.

Python Funko Pop - King Arthur

To coincide with the 40th anniversary of the film, Funko will be releasing these first five figures in November, just in time to stuff the stockings of people with a proper sense of humor. The five, interestingly, consist of the two main heroes plus three weird side characters all played by John Cleese. We have the noble leader, King Arthur, as played by the late, great Graham Chapman; his brilliant adviser who knows about giant wooden rabbits and the buoyancy of witches Sir Bedevere, as played by co-director Terry Jones; the Black Knight, who gets all of his limbs hacked off; the French Taunter who calls people an “empty-headed animal food trough wiper”; and the inexplicably angry and explody Tim the Enchanter, who has with him the horrible, tooth-filled white rabbit which guards the entrance to the Cave of Caerbannog… I’ve seen the movie a few times.

On top of these five, concept art for another four was released (though not in high enough quality to be worth posting here). Those are Brave Sir Robin and Brother Maynard, both played by Eric Idle, the main Knight of Ne, played by Michael Palin, and Arthur’s servant/horse Patsy, played by co-director and animator Terry Gilliam. So at least one character per Python is represented, so that’s nice.

The figures are not yet available for pre-order, but you can have a gander at the five in the gallery below!

Which one are you most excited about? (It’s Tim the Enchanter for me by a long way.) Let us know in the comments below!
