Warning: There are minor spoilers ahead for Marvelâs Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season three, especially if youâre not up to date!
After three seasons and countless betrayals, former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) is dead. Unfortunately, Wardâs body is now inhabited by an alien being of immense power who may have been responsible for the formation of Hydra itself. Now the creature inside of Ward is back on Earth and the S.H.I.E.L.D. team may not have the power to stop his plans.
During last nightâs Agent Carter, ABC released the first trailer from the midseason premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. As we can see, Wardâs body still bears the palm print of Agent Coulsonâs (Clark Gregg) artificial hand, which crushed Ward to death.
The trailer also features the return of President Matthew Ellis (William Sadler) as he consults with Coulson about the âInhuman problem.â This suggests that S.H.I.E.L.D. may once again be acting in an officially sanctioned capacity following the reveal that the ATCU was compromised by Hydra and Gideon Malick (Powers Boothe).
It also appears that thereâs a superhuman arms race to get control of the emerging Inhuman population. After only introducing a handful of new Inhuman teammates in the first half of the season, it looks like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is finally diving into the Secret Warriors. And of course, thereâs a few kickass moments with Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Agent May (Ming-Na Wen).
