Doctor Who Experience – Even More Reason to Visit London

Greetings Who-ers!

If you’re in, going to visit, or dreaming about London, there’s now yet another reason to go there. Open now at London’s Olympia center is a multimedia, interactive exhibition celebrating the history and magic of our favorite show. The Doctor Who Experience allows fans young and old alike to dive into the world of Doctor Who like nothing else before. Fans can walk through sets from the show and see original props as well as watch videos and perform tasks to help the Doctor. Matt Smith recorded special host segments to guide guests through their journey. The coolest thing for me is that there are full size versions of the TARDIS interiors from the Peter Davison, David Tennant, and Matt Smith eras to see. Check out this little video and begin dreaming.

I also met Mike. He is so awesome, I was actually amazed when I found out he was in the Nerdist TV pilot.

If you ever go, look out for a guy with Tennant hair and glasses- he is one of the coolest and nicest guys ever.

I guess it’s too much to hope this will ever come to the States.

The title reminded me that it’s been YEARS since they closed Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton and they STILL haven’t put anything into that space. In fact, that part of the hotel is even still space-themed! Do you see where I’m going, big shot Las Vegas developers? (Big shot developers read the comments on this blog, right?)

  6. Danlek says:

    Oh My Gallifrey… NERDGASM!

How many children do you think will try to hide in there until after it’s closed for the night in order to meet a future version of themselves from an alternative universe? I bet at least a couple will.

I went to a similar – but seemingly not as cool – Dr. Who exhibit at the London Film Museum about 18 years ago, well before I thought anything of Dr. Who, and the amount of detail and memorabilia was amusing but impressive. Similar costumes and bad guy wax statues.

The best thing about it was the scale-size Dalek you could climb into and make talk in Dalek speak while looking through a viewport at yourself as Dalek. My brother and I have fond memories of making the Dalek say “LIICK MY BAAALLLLS HUUUUMAAAN”

  8. Simona says:

Well, I don’t even need to mention that that’s amazing, because of course it is! Any idea how long it’ll run? I can’t get to London any time soon, but it’s on my must list for eventually!
