DOCTOR PUPPET Bids a Tearful Farewell to Peter Capaldi

I’m already stockpiling a gross of Kleenex for what will assuredly be a tearjerking Doctor Who Christmas special. Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor grew on me to a degree I didn’t fully expect when I saw him be all crotchety and loopy in series eight’s Deep Breath. And pairing him with David Bradley’s portrayal of the First Doctor will surely make my eyes leak and make me the ridicule of my family. And let’s not even start on Jodie Whittaker’s arrival… Oh, “Twice Upon a Time,” I can’t wait to see you. But I’m not the only one gearing up to say farewell to Mr. Capaldi; Doctor Puppet has created this lovely tribute video.

For only being a minute long, Alisa Stern and her crew of stop-motion animators gave us a perfect encapsulation of the Twelfth Doctor, in puppet form. From sitting on the outside of the TARDIS to using chalk to draw, the Doctor Puppet gives us a connect-the-dots representation of his entire tenure, centering on companions Nardole, Bill, and Clara. Surrounding them are characters like Ashildr, Missy, River Song, and Danny Pink, and Daleks, Mondasian Cyberman, Gallifrey, and that damnable raven.

Add to that a nice finale where the Doctor dons his sonic shades and plays power chords on his guitar and you’ve got a delightful little bit of Doctor Who fandom and artistry. Our favorite kind!
