DIY Portal T-Shirt Is A Triumph (Sorry, Had To Do It)

As far as I’m concerned, there are three real joys to Halloween. One is dressing up like a superhero, because most other days if you walk around with a cape on people will judge you. Two is the houses that give away full-size Snickers. Three is building an awesome DIY costume.

For me, a successful Halloween costume is all about how well you can wire LED lights or build things out of cardboard. The latest Ben Heck Show on Engadget has Ben building what might be one of the coolest DIY costumes I’ve seen: a portal t-shirt. Slap an LCD screen on the front, put a camera on the back, and people will stare into your orange portal (or blue, if you prefer) and literally see right through you. The downside is you’ll probably have to hear a lot of jokes about cake.

For bonus points, you can grab yourself a plush Weighted Companion Cube. I can almost guarantee you won’t have to euthanize it.
