The release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is just around the corner (less than 10 days away!), and that’s an occasion to celebrate. You could go with a whole Hunger Games themed party to get in a Panem state of mind, or you could focus your training on making a few baked goods. This mockingjay pie by baker Koalipops looks fancy enough to serve at the finest Capitol party. Of course, if President Snow spotted the pie, he would probably have the baker executed. Maybe keep your mockingjay pie to yourself and away from the Capitol.

There are stencils to make cutting the bird out as easy as can be. You can use your favorite fruit pie recipe for this dessert, and if you don’t feel like making a crust, you can take a shortcut and buy pre-made pie dough at the grocery store. You have to do whatever it takes to survive the Hunger Games, right? Right.

Even with stencils, the trickiest part about making this pie is cutting the symbol out of pie dough without butchering it. Just go slowly and pretend like you have to cut out the wings perfectly to avoid being selected as tribute.
