Paint Your Own DIY BB-8 Pumpkin

Like all of us, the folks at Disney Family have Star Wars on the brain. After all, we only have 50 days until Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters. With the countdown running and Halloween right around the corner, it makes perfect sense that Team Disney would put together an epic Star Wars Halloween pumpkin featuring everyone’s new favorite character, BB-8!

Rolly polly round and just so darn charming, BB-8 is the perfect inspiration to make your Nerdoween extra crafty. Some fans have already taken to making their own droid pumpkins using extra power converters from the Toshe station. Here, using just two pumpkins, some round objects, and whole lot of perseverance, you too can create your own little astromech gourd. Disney has kindly provided the templates for download so that you can get to carving and painting just in time for Halloween.

Should you be more of a visual droid builder, Disney has also posted a DIY tutorial on YouTube, explaining just how you can take your pumpkin from the patch to the sands of Jakku. While the tutorial says it takes three hours from start to finish, I’m going to go ahead and say give yourself a little leeway. Go slow, be precise, and your companion droid will be all dressed up and ready for Halloween in no time. Now if only this little thing rolled along! Rolling pumpkins… not sure that’s cannon but we’ll take it.

Will be trying your hand at a BB-8 pumpkin this year? Let us know in the comments and tag @nerdist and @justjennrecipes on Instagram to show us your creations!
