Back in June I previewed Disneyâs newest smart toy, Playmation, and now itâs finally ready to come out and play! Disneyâs Playmation Marvel’s Avengers hits store shelves on October 4th just in time for the holidays. Disney sent me a complimentary Playmation starter pack and my 11-year-old volunteer test subject couldnât wait to try it out.
The Playmation Marvel Avengers Starter Pack includes one Iron Man repulsor, hero and villain Smart Figures, in this case Captain America and Iron Skull, as well as two Power Activators. The set requires 12 batteries in total, which are not included. There are 4 locations and 25 missions right out of the box with no app or internet required, making it easy to set up and get going. Additional locations and missions are available from AvengersNet.app.
The repulsor is adjustable to any arm size from child to adult, and believe me, you really do feel like Tony Stark once itâs strapped onto your arm. The minute you turn it on JARVIS comes online and itâs as if youâre the star of your very own Avengers movie.
The missions are simple and easy to follow and the wearable tech is so intuitive, JARVIS knows when youâre not following directions. I think he knows if youâve been bad or good too, yes, Iâm saying JARVIS is Santa. Playmation engages players with physical activity like running, jumping and ducking, which gets kids off their feet and into the game. My kid-test-subject worked up a sweat while completing mission after mission.
When the repulsor is strapped on and youâre using the palm cannon with the activators, it puts you right into the thick of things and feels just like Iron Man defeating his enemies. Collectors will love that even more unique Marvel figures will be coming in the next roll out. MODOK, anyone?
The Playmation Marvel Avengers Starter Pack retails for $119.99 and is sure to be a holiday hit. The set will be available October 4th at Disney Stores, disneystore.com and retailers nationwide.
