Disney’s ENCHANTED Sequel May Finally Be Happening!

Back in 2007, Amy Adams charmed moviegoers in Enchanted as Giselle, a princess from an animated world who made a new life for herself in the real world. And while Giselle received her happy ending, it appears that Disney is finally getting serious about an Enchanted sequel.

Disney is reportedly calling the sequel Disenchanted, and the studio is said to be punching up the script in anticipation of a greenlight. Anne Fletcher is still attached to direct Disenchanted. Last year, Disney confirmed that the Enchanted sequel was being written by J. David Stem and David N. Weiss, a screenwriting duo who collaborated on The Smurfs and Daddy Day Care. However, it’s not clear if Disenchanted is the same draft that was written by Stern and Weiss.

Disenchanted is still at an early stage of development and there are currently no details about the story, nor have any of the original cast members been confirmed for the project. However, Adams has frequently voiced her love for playing Giselle and it’s hard to image an Enchanted sequel taking place without her. Presumably Patrick Dempsey would be back as well, since his character, Robert formed a romance with Giselle in the original film. But as Gray’s Anatomy fans can attest, that doesn’t mean that Robert couldn’t suffer an unfortunate accident if Dempsey declines to return.

If the working title, Disenchanted implies anything about the story, then perhaps Giselle has become disenchanted with her life in the real world. Or maybe Giselle will find herself once again in the animated world of Andalasia,
