DISENCHANTMENT Teaser Introduces Matt Groening’s Netflix Animated Fantasy Series

Later this summer, The Simpsons creator and Futurama co-creator Matt Groening is set to debut Disenchantment, his new animated series for Netflix. The new show has been in development for a long time, and it’s going to give fans a new comedic take on fantasy. Netflix has finally dropped the first teaser trailer for Disenchantment, which features visual nods to both of Groening’s previous animated series. It also provides a brief introduction to Bean (Abbie Jacobson), Disenchantment‘s leading character.

As noted in the teaser, Bean is a princess and she does have a knack for getting into trouble. The core trio of this series will include Bean; her personal demon, Luci (Eric Andre); and Elfo (Nat Faxon), an aptly named elf adventurer. Disenchantment is set in a medieval fantasy kingdom known as Dreamland, and it’s not going to be limited by the bounds of reality. In other words, expect to see ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, and walruses. And yes, we mean “walruses.”

Futurama‘s Billy West, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, and Tress MacNeille will lend their vocal talents to Disenchantment, alongside Jeny Batten, Matt Berry, Noel Fielding, Rich Fulcher, David Herman, and Lucy Montgomery. Netflix has set a series premiere for Friday, August 17, and we can’t wait to see what Disenchantment does for the fantasy/comedy genre.

What do you think about the first look at Disenchantment? And which performers would you like to see as guest stars on the show? Let us know in the comment section below!
