Oh. Yeah. I don’t know about you folks, but I most definitely know who I’m gonna call next summer… With each new piece of info we’ve received, Sony’s Ghostbusters reboot (arriving on July 22, 2016) is looking better and better. You’ll recall how it was recently revealed that Thor himself, actor Chris Hemsworth, was cast as the new Ghostbusters’ receptionist. And then photos surfaced of Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Kristen Wiig on the film’s New York set, with the three looking very much the way we’d want a trio of oddball scientists turned paranormal investigators and eliminators to look. Now, the film’s director Paul Feig has tweeted the very first photo of the team’s new uniforms, with the hashtag “whatyougonnawear.”
The costumes aren’t radically different from the Ghostbusters jumpsuits we know and love. Instead, they suggest a vibe I hope is indicative of the overall film: classic and retro, but with enough of a twist to make things interesting. The iconic “no ghosts” symbol (designed by the original film’s associate producer Michael C. Gross) is still present, while the color recalls the dark grey of the Ghostbusters II uniforms, and a pair of gloves can be seen on the hip of each suit. The most distinct addition is a pair of double red stripes on the sleeves and torso, a design that’s also present in the boot accessories. The uniforms in this photo are tagged with the names of all four of the film’s lead actresses: Wiig, McCarthy, McKinnon, and Leslie Jones…

After this summer’s Spy — which is by far the funniest film that Feig and McCarthy have done, as well as evidence that the two have what it takes to deliver a first-rate genre parody — I’m totally onboard the new Ghostbusters train. But how about you? Let us know what you think of the uniforms and what we’ve seen of the film so far in the comments below!
