Director Colin Trevorrow Reveals JURASSIC WORLD Plot Details

Last week JoBlo leaked a handful of details about the upcoming fourth Jurassic Park film, director Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World. Needless to say, the filmmaker was none too happy about the leak, or the mixed response it received from fans. But he’s decided to take control of the information flow and set the record straight by talking to SlashFilm about the sequel. In an exclusive new interview with the site, Trevorrow confirms quite a few things about our next trip to Isla Nublar.

Jurassic World,” says the director, “takes place in a fully functional park on Isla Nublar. It sees more than 20,000 visitors every day.” Set twenty two years after the original film, Jurassic World takes place at a time when visitors to the park (built in spite of the mishaps which befell John Hammond’s original venue) have grown accustomed, and just a little bit tired, of the live dinosaurs that were once such a miracle of cutting-edge science. On Monday, Trevorrow tweeted the below photo of a uniform badge presumably worn by Jurassic World’s employees…

The director also confirmed that Chris Pratt’s character is “doing behavioral research on the raptors. They aren’t trained, they can’t do tricks. He’s just trying to figure out the limits of the relationship between these highly intelligent creatures and human beings.” Trevorrow confirmed that “there will be one new dinosaur created by the park’s geneticists,” adding “I know the idea of a modified dinosaur put a lot of fans on red alert, and I understand it. But we aren’t doing anything here that Crichton didn’t suggest in his novels. This animal is not a mutant freak.”

Does Jurassic World sound like it will be a worthy successor to Spielberg’s original 1993 blockbuster? Or at least the equal of director Joe Johnston’s Jurassic Park III? Tell us below.

  1. Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very hard to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appearance. I must say you have done a fantastic job with this. Also, the blog loads super quick for me on Chrome. Outstanding Blog!

In line with my observation, after a the foreclosure home is marketed at a sale, it is common for that borrower in order to still have the remaining unpaid debt on the loan. There are many lenders who attempt to have all service fees and liens paid off by the future buyer. Nonetheless, depending on specified programs, polices, and state legal guidelines there may be some loans that aren’t easily solved through the shift of financial loans. Therefore, the obligation still lies on the customer that has obtained his or her property foreclosed on. Many thanks sharing your ideas on this website.

F*ckin’ tremendous things here. I am very glad to see your article. Thanks a lot and i am looking forward to contact you. Will you kindly drop me a mail?

  4. Do you mind if I quote a couple of your posts as long as I provide credit and sources back to your weblog? My blog is in the exact same area of interest as yours and my users would definitely benefit from some of the information you present here. Please let me know if this okay with you. Thanks a lot!

  5. Nice post. I learn one thing more challenging on different blogs everyday. It’ll at all times be stimulating to learn content from other writers and practice somewhat one thing from their store. I’d choose to make use of some with the content material on my weblog whether or not you don’t mind. Natually I’ll offer you a link in your net blog. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Do you have a spam problem on this site; I also am a blogger, and I was curious about your situation; many of us have developed some nice practices and we are looking to swap strategies with other folks, why not shoot me an e-mail if interested.

I’m still learning from you, while I’m improving myself. I definitely liked reading all that is written on your site.Keep the information coming. I liked it!

  8. Sean says:

I’ve watched Jurassic park more than any other film and I’m going to see the midnight premiere but with no exceptions what so ever.  Everything about the story seems terrible and it hurts to say so. Especially if they are going to make a theme park on the same island that was destroyed my the Costa Rican government. Napalm does some serious shit. The concept of ”22 years later” is good, and a lot can be done with that, (Containing site B to just the 5 islands for example), but another island park?

  9. Daniel says:

I think it will be good!

  10. Adam says:

Intriguing idea that people 22 years later would not be awed by dinosaurs anymore…similar to how  audiences are burnt out on CGI. Hope this theme is explored in the movie!

  11. Kam Miller says:

I’m looking forward to it. I may be in the minority, but the “new” dinosaur idea makes sense to me. They’re in a world where people are taking a “been there, seen that” approach to the park. It’s understandable they’d try to increase interest. As long as we aren’t in for CG overload, I’m in.

  12. Django says:

    I am sold. Cant wait!!

  13. Three Toes of Fury says:

I was completely on board and stoked for this sequel…that was until i read a few additional details about the  “one new dinosaur created by the parks geneticists”….it turns out that the dinosaur is only about 6′ tall,  completely purple,  and incessantly sings “i loveee you…you love mee…we’re a great big familllyyyy”.

    The horror.  The horror.

Peace & the little fleas at the flea circus

I don’t remember anything about Crichton suggesting adding genetically modified dinosaurs to the park being a “good” idea.

I loved the books, and the first and third movies. I’m definitely looking forward to Jurassic World.

    • Heather says:

He never suggested it was a “good” idea, but he did suggest that geneticists would want to “enhance” the genes in the long conversation between Dr. Wu and Hammond toward the end of Jurassic Park. Granted, Wu wanted to “dumb down” the dinosaurs, but the genetic modification could just as easily be explored in the opposite direction. And Trevorrow did say early on he wanted to explore Wu’s back story more in this movie.

  15. Shayde says:

Equal to JP3? That’s a mighty low bar to set there.

    • putomadre says:

Right? The 3rd one was the worst. 1 is gold, 2 I actually liked quite a bit and 3 I’ve seen once and will not again.  This shit better be good.

  16. cromiller says:

As long as there are not children as part of the main group of heroes I’m still hopeful.

  17. If it’s not all CG I’m down.

  18. donovan says:

As long as it’s better than the third one/the worst one, I’m in.

    • cardsfanbj says:

Second was by far the worst. It strayed way too far from the source material.
Though I did find it laughable how the “heroes” ended up dooming everyone, doing nothing actually heroic.

  19. Joe F says:

Haha as long as it’s better than the second one, I’ll see it.

    • Joey Letson says:

Precisely! The Lost World was pretty weak. The third one, while no masterpiece was at least fun! If it reaches the level of JP3 I’ll be OK.

  20. Only If there is dinosaurs getting loose
